Grandeur Tarnished

Its color still rich if faded, one of two iconic funnels of the S.S. United States, the ocean liner that languished for decades at various docks amid ownership changes and unrealized restoration plans before she was towed away in 2025 to be sunk as an artificial reef. I created this work and several others to vividly illustrate the rusting, once iconic ocean liner just before her ill-fated final journey from Philadelphia in 2025 to become an artificial reef.

This is a one-of-a-kind limited edition of a single print in this size and artistic mounting, printed to the highest standards with archival pigment ink on photographic paper. The print is mounted in a 20"x20” metal frame, which has been "aged and rusted” to complement the condition of the iconic ocean liner, creating a unique art piece.
